Alison Beaton (she/her) works with general orthopaedic clients and athletes of all levels to optimize movement in sport and in life. Combining fellowship-level training in manual and manipulative therapy (FCAMPT) with expertise in movement pattern and muscle imbalance retraining, she helps clients achieve rapid, safe, and effective recovery from injury and chronic pain.
Alison’s experience with elite athletes spans over two decades. She currently serves as Integrated Support Team Lead for Surf Canada and is an active provider for Dance NS, Neptune Theatre, and visiting Broadway productions in Halifax. Earlier in her career she worked with Athletics Canada, the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association, and spent four years as Performance Medicine Supervisor with Cirque du Soleil, touring North America, Europe, and South America.
A respected educator and leader within her profession, Alison is an Instructor and Examiner in the Advanced Integrated Musculoskeletal (AIM) Program — Canada’s highest level of post-graduate orthopaedic physiotherapy certification — through the CPA Orthopaedic Division. She has taught in the School of Physiotherapy and Department of Anatomy at Dalhousie University, served as Chair of the CPA Orthopaedic Division (2016–2020), and is a member of the NOD Adjunct Education Committee.
Alison holds a Master of Clinical Science in Manipulative Therapy (Western University), her FCAMPT, and a Diploma of Sport Physiotherapy, and graduated from Dalhousie University’s physiotherapy program with distinction.
Outside the clinic, Alison is an avid surfer, runner, and functional fitness enthusiast — and brings the same commitment to movement she asks of her patients. She also loves to travel with her family.
Alison owns and practices at both Scotia Physiotherapy in Halifax and Cole Harbour Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation.
